Fallen Eagles Excerpt :

The 50 pilots featured in Fallen Eagles were all decorated for bravery during The Great War. All survived the conflict only to die flying in the postwar years. The causes of their deaths ranged from being casualties of small wars, then as now rife in the Middle East, mechanical failure or pilot error. The 1920s were still pioneering years for aviation and aviators and test flying, air races and displays, record attempts etc were fraught with dangers known and unknown. In addition to the better known names such as Sir John Alcock, Captain W Beauchamp-Proctor VC and Sammy Kincaid there are many that will be unfamiliar to all but the most ardent enthusiasts. But all have courage and love of flying in common and sadly luck ran out for each of these men who made a contribution to the history of flight. Thanks to acclaimed aviation historian Norman Franks, their names are not forgotten.

Written in aid of the Huntington’s Disease Youth Organisation (HDYO), with a foreword from Catherine Martin, CE of the HDYO. The title story, Fallen Eagles, is a Hamlet-inspired story about a Scottish boy who loses his idolised mountaineer father in an accident and blames his uncle to such an extent that he contemplates murder. Other stories take us to the French Revolution, the First World War and to more contemporary situations such as coming out, shaking off the parental yoke and exploring old and new love. Each story explores the diversity of young people’s experiences as they emerge into adulthood and the wide-ranging themes are both contemporary and relatable to the modern reader. Fallen Angels has been produced to raise funds for Huntington’s Disease Youth Organisation, a charity that Bruce has worked closely with for many years, following his civil partner’s diagnoses with Huntington’s Disease in 2016. Praise for Bruce Harris’ earlier short story collection, Odds Against: “There is strength and warmth, toughness and kindness in these stories, making up a collection that is spirited and uplifting.” – Alison Moore, author of Booker Prize short-listed novel, The Lighthouse

Fallen Eagles The Italian 10th Army In The Opening Campaign In The Western Desert June 1940 Excerpt :

The Italian Army developed a sound and unique combined arms doctrine for mechanized warfare in 1938. This new doctrine was called the “War of Rapid Decision.” It involved the use of mechanized warfare in the Italian version of the blitzkrieg. This doctrine evolved from the lessons learned in the Italian-Ethiopian War of 1935 to 1936 and the Spanish Civil War of 1936-1939. With Italy’s entry into World War II, military operations ensued along the Libyan-Egyptian border between the Italian 10th Army and a much smaller British Western Desert Force. The Italian Army in Libya outnumbered the British Army in Egypt by a ratio of four to one. The setting seemed to be ideal for the employment of the War of Rapid Decisions. Moreover, Marshal Rodolfo Graziani, who was the commander of the Italian 10th Army in North Africa during its first campaign in the western desert, had pioneered this new form of mechanized warfare during the Ethiopian War. Surprisingly, the Italian forces in Libya did not employ their new doctrine, reverting instead to more conventional techniques of “mass.” It was Graziani’s failure to utilize the doctrine which he had helped to develop that led to Italy’s embarrassing defeat in 1941.

The Aztec Eagles Excerpt :

Few would list Mexico as an ally of the US during the Second World War. Sadly, Mexico s aid to the US has been largely ignored by historians and is mostly absent from American history books. When Mexican aviators had the opportunity to show their courage in battle, they did so with valour. General Douglas MacArthur commended the pilots and 150 support personnel. The thirty-one pilots of Mexican Expeditionary Force 201st Fighter Squadron flew missions supporting troops in the Philippines and sorties over Formosa. The Aztec Eagles helped the Allies defeat Japan, end the isolationism of Mexico and paved the way for important agreements between the United States and Mexico. They helped modernise the Mexican Air Force and demonstrated that Mexico could mount a successful expeditionary force. Significant as these achievements were, perhaps the unit s most important legacy is that the Aztec Eagles fought for dignity, creating pride throughout their homeland. That pride endures and is evident today as the story of the Aztec Eagles can be heard across the nation.

Eagles of Destiny a Prophetic Concept Excerpt :

In this book, we can learn the secret of RESTING in the Lord and not wearing ourselves out living by pseudo and nervous energy that gets depleted quickly and can’t be replenished. God alone is our source and supply. “YES, MY SOUL, FIND REST IN GOD; my hope comes from him” (Psalm 62:5 NIV). There are two types of eagles spiritually speaking: those who live close to the ground, using up too much energy (the arm of the flesh) and who live like scavengers on dead meat. Then there are those who soar on the heights, use less of their own energy (depending more on the Holy Spirit) and don’t grow weary. They get revelation from the third heaven (clear sighted above the clouds) and remain healthy and strong by eating fresh prey (revelation) every single day. Have an Abundant Life. Amen
