“I am most grateful for two things: that I was born in North Korea, and that I escaped from North Korea.” - Yeonmi Park "One of the most harrowing stories I have ever heard - and one of the most inspiring." - The Bookseller “Park's remarkable and inspiring story shines a light on a country whose inhabitants live in misery beyond comprehension. Park's important memoir showcases the strength of the human spirit and one young woman's incredible determination to never be hungry again.” —Publishers Weekly In In Order to Live, Yeonmi Park shines a light not just into the darkest corners of life in North Korea, describing the deprivation and deception she endured and which millions of North Korean people continue to endure to this day, but also onto her own most painful and difficult memories. She tells with bravery and dignity for the first time the story of how she and her mother were betrayed and sold into sexual slavery in China and forced to suffer terrible psychological and physical hardship before they finally made their way to Seoul, South Korea—and to freedom. Park confronts her past with a startling resilience. In spite of everything, she has never stopped being proud of where she is from, and never stopped striving for a better life. Indeed, today she is a human rights activist working determinedly to bring attention to the oppression taking place in her home country. Park’s testimony is heartbreaking and unimaginable, but never without hope. This is the human spirit at its most indomitable.

'I am most grateful for two things: that I was born in North Korea, and that I escaped from North Korea.' Yeonmi Park was not dreaming of freedom when she escaped from North Korea. She didn't even know what it meant to be free. All she knew was that she was running for her life, that if she and her family stayed behind they would die - from starvation, or disease, or even execution. This book is the story of Park's struggle to survive in the darkest, most repressive country on earth; her harrowing escape through China's underworld of smugglers and human traffickers; and then her escape from China across the Gobi desert to Mongolia, with only the stars to guide her way, and from there to South Korea and at last to freedom; and finally her emergence as a leading human rights activist - all before her 21st birthday. I don’t mean ‘read it eventually.’ I mean: stop what you’re doing and pick up this book.” —CANDACE OWENS "The most important book on free speech in decades—read it!” —SENATOR TED CRUZ A New Strategy: We Win, They Lose The Culture War is over, and the culture lost. The Left’s assault on liberty, virtue, decency, the Republic of the Founders, and Western civilization has succeeded. You can no longer keep your social media account—or your job—and acknowledge truths such as: Washington, Jefferson, and Columbus were great men. Schools and libraries should not coach children in sexual deviance. Men don’t have uteruses. How did we get to this point? Michael Knowles of The Daily Wire exposes and diagnosis the losing strategy we have fallen for and shows how we can change course—and start winning. In the groundbreaking Speechless: Controlling Words, Controlling Minds Knowles reveals: How the “free speech absolutists” gave away the store The First Amendment does not require a value-neutral public square How the Communists figured out that their revolution could never succeed as long as the common man was attached to his own culture Where political correctness came from How, comply or resist, political correctness is a win-win game for the bad guys Why taking our stand on “freedom of speech” helps put atheism, decadence, and nonsense on the same plane with faith, virtue, and reality The real question: Will we shut down drag queen story hour, or cancel Abraham Lincoln? For 170 years the First Amendment was compatible with prayer in public school How the atheists got the Warren Court to rule their way To this day, there’s a First Amendment exception for obscenity. Winterhawk s Land Excerpt :

Michael Dante played the title role in Winterhawk (1975), a Western about a legendary Blackfoot Chief’s character and his principles. In this novella sequel, he pens an ageless saga about ruthless railroad executives trying to assassinate him in order to build their railroad directly through his territory, taking the Blackfoot land without provocation. Winterhawk and his tribe remain strong as long as they can, to protect the land of their people, the land they call home, before the invasion of progress imposes itself on America. This inspiring story of a brave man, who stands up to and fight against those who have their own agenda for his land, evokes the nostalgic atmosphere of Western series that Dante frequently appeared in during American television’s Golden Era, such as Death Valley Days, The Big Valley, Daniel Boone, Custer, The Texan, Bonanza, Maverick, and Cheyenne.

In Order to Live Untroubled Excerpt :

Despite the long human history of the Canadian central arctic, there is still little historical writing on the Inuit peoples of this vast region. Although archaeologists and anthropologists have studied ancient and contemporary Inuit societies, the Inuit world in the crucial period from the 16th to the 20th centuries remains largely undescribed and unexplained. In Order to Live Untroubled helps fill this 400-year gap by providing the first, broad, historical survey of the Inuit peoples of the central arctic.Drawing on a wide array of eyewitness accounts, journals, oral sources, and findings from material culture and other disciplines, historian Renee Fossett explains how different Inuit societies developed strategies and adaptations for survival to deal with the challenges of their physical and social environments over the centuries. In Order to Live Untroubled examines how and why Inuit created their cultural institutions before they came under the pervasive influence of Euro-Canadian society. This fascinating account of Inuit encounters with explorers, fur traders, and other Aboriginal peoples is a rich and detailed glimpse into a long-hidden historical world.

The Monster on Top of the Bed Excerpt :

"Blimp, blop, blimp, bloop. Suzy gripped her sheets tightly. Was that noise coming from under her bed?" Helps Children Banish Bedtime FearsSo begins Suzy's adventure where she meets Karrit, another child, and one that lives far under her bed. The two children banish their bedtime fears and become best friends by treating each other the way that they want to be treated.A Fear of Monsters is CommonA fear of monsters under the bed is common with children of all ages, starting with a vague sense of the unknown with younger toddlers and graduating to perhaps a more solid image in the minds of older children. The Monster on Top of the Bed flips the idea around, like the famous Disney Movie Monsters Inc., and bases the story on the concept that it's the monsters that are actually afraid of the children. The Children Model The Golden RuleIn this beautifully illustrated book we meet two children--Suzy and Karrit, and we discover that sometimes things are not always what they seem and when the monster fears the child, we come to see a different perspective on misunderstandings and ignorance. We also discover that it is easy to misinterpret the meanings of words and actions, when Karrit explains to Suzy that certain things she says and does, frightens him.Although the words, "The Golden Rule" never appear in the book, the way the two children treat each other as though they would like to be treated enable the two of them to work together to work out their differences. A friendship forms, and a new light is shed upon them both when they realize that maybe they aren't so different from each other after all.A Mantra that Banishes Nighttime FearsWhen things get scary, both children use Grandmom's mantra, which is highly effective in banishing monsters, "“You're welcome to stay until I say, 'Nay!' Then it's time to go, and you can't say, 'no.'”This is an empowering bedtime story. The multimedia edition contains a link to an .mp4 file that features the same audio tracks in the CD v

Rest Stop Excerpt :

Synopsis Rest Stop is a 250 page realistic novel based on real characters I knew while I served my time in prison. It is about the convicts I lived with on a daily basis. The book starts off in prison and gives insight of the living conditions. It tells of the games that are needed in order to survive. It explains the brotherhood that forms between cell mates and the cliques you become part of, not by choice but out of necessity. Following a fight and a stabbing, the four inmates who are held responsible are being transported from a minimum security location to the main prison when they escape. The escape convicts come up with a plan to take over a rest-area on Interstate 15. It was just a few miles from Las Vegas. They figured that the people going to Vegas would have lots of cash on them. Their plan was to rob them and use the money to get out of the country. It is a long way from Oregon State Penitentiary to Las Vegas. A big part of the story takes place on the trip to get to the rest stop, with robbery, murder and rape along the way. The driving force behind the story is the dialog and vivid thought process, not only from the convicts but from the victims. Each chapter gives insight to the mind set and words of the escaped convicts, along with the Warden, the State Police and the Federal agent who is always just one step behind the inmates. The novel begins with a thrilling, fast paced opening. It holds the excited pace up to an unforgettably tense conclusion. Each chapter ends in a poem I wrote while in prison and coincides with the story. The epilogue leaves room for a sequel for a second book.
