The Quran A New Interpretation Book Description :

This new rendering of the Holy Quran into the English language is the first of its kind, since it is a combination of translation and exegesis in which the author 'opens out' the verses of the Holy Book to reveal some of the layers of meaning expounded by the Prophet and transmitted through the ages by the Prophet's companions, family and the scholars who followed them. The fruit of over thirty years of research into the principles of Quranic exegesis and hadith analysis, this work matches a depth of Arabic and Islamic learning with a mastery of English that is lucid and accessible while preserving the integrity of the original text.

  • Publisher : Springer
  • Release Date : 2019-07-17
  • Genre: Religion
  • Pages : 132
  • ISBN 10 : 9783030175580

Epistemology of the Quran Book Description :

This book examines all verses of the Quran involving knowledge related concepts. It begins with the argument that an analysis of the Quranic concept of ignorance points to epistemic virtues that can pave our way towards gaining knowledge and/or understanding. It deals with the Quranic concepts of perceptual, rational, and revelatory knowledge as well as understanding and wisdom in the light of recent discussions in Western analytic epistemology. It also argues that the relevant Quranic verses seem to involve concept of an epistemic conscience whose proper exercise can yield knowledge or understanding. While not overlooking the Quranic emphasis on revelation as a source of knowledge, the book draws our attention to a remarkable overlap between some strains of contemporary virtue epistemology and Quranic approach to knowledge. It shows that the Quranic verses suggest a progressive sequence from propositional knowledge to understanding to wisdom.

  • Release Date : 1999
  • Genre: Economics
  • Pages : 398
  • ISBN 10 : 9781565640931

Economic Guidelines in the Quran Book Description :

In its bid to provide a sound, healthy and balanced orientation to human life, Islam accords rightful importance to all aspects of human activity including the economic. Significantly enough, Islam exhibits no trace of that unwarranted spiritual exuberance that would prompt it to look upon wealth contemptuously as too profane to deserve its due attention. On the contrary, it declares that God has made wealth a support for men (Qur’an 4:5), which clearly reflects Islam’s recognition of the importance of economic resources for man’s well-being. The present book is addressed to the needs of the economists who are interested in having access to the guidelines that the Qur’an can offer them in the field of their concerns. Since a majority of economists is not proficient in Arabic, it is hoped that the present work, being in English, will be of substantial help to them. While preparing this work the author has kept in view the major economic subjects and their sub-classifications. He also attempted to derive and identify not only the essential economic principles expounded in the Qur’an, but also the norms of economic behavior and the principles that could guide and regulate the functioning of economic institutions in an Islamic state.

The Quran Book Description :

Too often we are tempted into thinking how wrong other people's religions and scriptures are, rather than focusing on what's right about our own. We act like some of our politicians during election campaigns rather than following the teachings of our own holy books. Breaking the trend, author Dr. Ejaz Naqvi provides an objective, topic-by-topic review of the two most read books in the world-the Holy Bible and the Holy Quran. "The Quran: With or Against the Bible? "addresses the key themes of the Quran and answers commonly asked questions in search of finding common ground: Who wrote the Quran? Who is the "God" of the Quran? What is the Quranic view of the prophets, especially Moses and Jesus? What does the Quran teach about interfaith relations? Does the Quran promote peace and harmony between Muslims and the People of the Book, or does it promote violence? How does the Quran compare to the Bible on important themes like worshipping God, the prophets, human rights, moral values, and fighting for justice and human dignity? Does the Quran render women as second-class citizens? Dispelling major myths, "The Quran: With or Against the Bible?" systematically analyzes and compares the similarities in the paths of guidance the two scriptures have bestowed upon mankind.

Science In The Quran Book Description :

It is clear from the prophet Muhammad's (saws) own words that He (saws) understood there is knowledge in everything which needs to be studied and discovered before it can be known, today for mankind science fulfils this role. The Prophet – praise and peace be upon him – said, “Indeed, knowledge has a branch which resembles a hidden thing (it needs to be discovered); no one grasps it except those who know Allah.” Allah in the Quran speaks about all aspects of creation, but much of it was beyond the understanding of the desert Arabs living 1400 years ago, Allah says: “And we strike these similitudes for the people, but none understands them except those who know.” (29:42). Regarding this the prophet (saws) said, “Indeed, there is an external meaning and an internal meaning to the Qur’an, a scope and a point.” Ali, pointing to his breast, said, “Indeed, herein lies abundant knowledge; would that there were some to (comprehend and) transmit it.” It was because not every person was capable of understanding science that the prophet (saws) said, “We prophets were ordered to communicate with everyone according to his ability to understand.” This is because there was a danger in trying to teach people science they would not be able to prove for another 1400 years, so the prophet (saws) warned, “No one has ever recited a prophetic quotation to a people which their minds have failed to grasp without it being a temptation for them.” Allah said in the Quran "Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Are those who know equal with those who know not? But only men of understanding will pay heed." (39:9) This work will show how Allah taught science in the Quran through a series of tafsir on various chapters and verses of the Quran all of which ultimately explain how Allah is Haq, the reality of the universe we live with. Table Of Contents: Ch.1 - The Prophets Knowledge Of The Quran Ch.2 - Tafsir Surah al Rahman (55:1-9) Ch.3 - Tafsir Surah al Shams (91:1-11) Ch.4 -
