The Temple and the Tabernacle Book Description :

Grasp the Majesty, Beauty, and Significance of God's Dwelling Places At various points in Israel's history, God dwelt in specific, significant places, most notably in the tabernacle and the temple. These structures, meticulously planned, extravagantly furnished, and regularly frequented by the devout, were more than just places of worship and sacrifice. They were pictures of God's relationship with his chosen people and of the atoning work that would be done by the Messiah. To understand the tabernacle and the temple, then, is to understand how we are brought into God's family through the sacrifice of his only Son, Jesus. Visually stunning and theologically rich, this full-color resource brings together the latest scholarship and archeological discoveries to bring God's dwelling places alive for modern believers. It places these important structures in their historical and theological contexts, connects them with the overall biblical story, and shows how they bring meaning and depth to the faith of Christians today.

The Tabernacle Temple and Sanctuary Genesis 1 to Exodus 27 Book Description :

This book uses a verse by verse approach to understand the Tabernacle. When I prayed about starting this book, the answer was, “at the beginning.” After I began writing, that made sense. To understand the Tabernacle, we have to understand God's personality. That's when items in the Tabernacle began to come alive. What better way to understand the Tabernacle then to study the subject the way Moses recorded it? I can't think of a better way. I'm sure after reading this book, you'll agree. Can anyone improve on the sequence God gave Moses? The Tabernacle reflects Jesus' personality as well as His dedication, ambitions, and goals. The Tabernacle is like Jesus' application to this world to be their Messiah, Savior, God, King, High Priest, and Friend. This book shows how a series of stories in the Bible led to the Israelites leaving Egypt, covers the collection of materials for the Tabernacle, as well as instructions and directions God gave to Moses to build the Tabernacle.

The Tabernacle Temple and Sanctuary The Books of Joshua and Judges Book Description :

There is no time like the present to study the books of Joshua and Judges. What lessons do we learn from Joshua, Israel's new leader taking God's people into the physical promised land after wandering around the wilderness for almost a generation? Why did God take Moses out of the picture and appoint a new leader to take Israel into the promised land? Why did God open the Jordan River? Was it important to remind Israel about that Red Sea crossing at the beginning of their journey? What was the spiritual lesson? What do those lessons, and the fact God recreated the miracle have to do with the closing of earth's history? A verse by verse study through the Book of Joshua not only opened up new insights into the event, the author explained exactly what Bible Study rules were followed, and how scripture explained each of those rules of context in a manner that makes it easy to learn each step in the study process.

The Tabernacle Temple and Sanctuary The Book of Numbers Book Description :

This is the forth book in this series that began with an in-depth look at how God views details, communicates with this world, and decides what process to use. Of course this series of books looked at aspects recorded in scripture about the Tabernacle. How the materials were collected, specific design details, who did the work, and how the Tabernacle was constructed. Much of that information is found in dozens, maybe hundreds of other books about the Tabernacle. But there are details setting this book apart from every other book written about the Tabernacle. This book takes a verse by verse, story by story, chapter by chapter look at the Tabernacle. In other words, this book presents a picture of the Tabernacle from God's point of view. Which the beginning of this series pointed out, is much different than any human perspective.

The Temple Book Description :

When thinking of the ancient Temple of Jerusalem, one often conjures up images of animal sacrifice, pilgrimages to the Holy City on religious festivals, and the High Priest solemnly entering the Holy of Holies on Yom Kippur. Indeed, each of these observances was a staple of Temple ritual, but it is easy to lose sight of the Temple as it impacted, and impacts, upon the daily life of Jews and their physical and spiritual responsibilities. Building the Temple is not merely one commandment of many; it cannot be examined in isolation. This volume shows how the Temple relates to the notions of Shabbat, the land of Israel, monarchy, Jewish independence and sovereignty, education, justice, covenant, Sinai, the garden of Eden, the Jewish relationship to the gentile world, and the very way the Jew relates to God. From a biblical viewpoint, the Temple is not only the central institution of the ideal Jewish society but also the central concept that binds and organizes all others. The minutiae of the Temple as portrayed in the liturgy and in the Bible often seem tedious and overritualistic. Classical sources of all genres abound to explain a particular passage or a particular rite. This book identifies broad themes that animate the meaning of the Temple, its rites, and the biblical passages that describe it. Details are probed as a larger conceptual whole. Animal sacrifice, particularly problematic to many on moral grounds, is examined in a new and revealing light. Many Torah commandments stand unchanged for all time regardless of historical events. Not so the commandment to erect the Temple. Social, economic, political, and religious currents were integral to the Temple's construction, destruction, and reconstruction. By probing these currents from the Bible's perspective, one can gain insight into the meaning of the times in which we live; we are in a process of rebuilding, even though we are far from redemption.

The Tabernacle Temple and Sanctuary Book Description :

If you've ever read the books of Kings and Chronicles, you know there were good kings and bad kings who had their ups and downs. What made some kings good and others bad? Jerusalem was ruled by David's decedents throughout most of the history recorded in Kings. One son after another took the throne. Why did good kings spawn bad sons, and how did one king coming from a line of bad kings turn out to be a good king? What changed the mold? How did God influence certain kings to change the nation while other kings refused to listen to God? When we look at the personality of each king, we see how influences inside and outside the palace effected each of them. We see how God was able to preserve enough of the law, and original plan of salvation to influence certain kings when Jerusalem needed a strong, loyal leader. We also see how and why those kings fell short of the ultimate goal, to turn the nation and world to God. Within each of those lives and stories, there are deep, spiritually related stories showing us why Jerusalem had to fall, and why this world, the way we know it will one day cease to exist. The lives and reign of each of those kings added details to Jerusalem's eventual destruction, which of course parallel the closing days of this world. When the personalities of Jerusalem's kings are understood, the path this world is following can be clearly seen. Egypt and Babylon have long been symbols used to explain the end of this world. Why would God have Egypt and Babylon converge on Jerusalem one after another? What role did the temple play in those stories? Why were the items in the temple carried off to Egypt? What did the king replace them with, and what did Nebuchadnezzar's army eventually carry off to Babylon? Why was that specific order followed? Why was one of Jerusalem's kings imprisoned in Egypt at the same time another served as a prisoner in Babylon? Why did Egypt then Babylon appoint kings in Jerusalem and give them new names? Those questions and more
