Treasured Book Description :

Love is in the cards for a young Scottish heiress in the first book of a delicious new trilogy of historical romances, Secrets of the Loch, from New York Times bestselling author Candace Camp. A family legend of hidden treasure mingles with the mist over the shores of Loch Baille… But it’s not the cache of gold dating back to Culloden that Jack Kensington claims when he arrives in the Highlands; it’s the house he won in a London card game from a luckless Scotsman. Stunned to learn that her wastrel brother wagered their family estate, Isobel Rose must find a way to save her home and the people she loves…even if it means accepting a loveless marriage. Or perhaps not so loveless? Isobel unlocks the secrets of desire in the arms of the mysterious and handsome Englishman, but a series of “accidents” makes her fear that she will soon be a widow instead of a wife. As their hunt for lost riches turns into the search for a killer, Isobel fights her attraction to the man who stole her birthright…but can Jack convince Isobel that he can provide a home for her heart, and a love to treasure?

Treasured Prayers for Treasured People Book Description :

As the church breathes it prays, and as the church prays it breathes. The church cannot live without praying, and the world cannot live without the church’s prayer. Prayer is the intake of the life-giving breath of the Spirit and the exhale of the heart’s cry of salvation for the church and the world. Prayer may be the most significant and transformative act that the church can minister. By it one heart can change the world, and the world can change one heart – The Power of Prayer. As we pray, we pray as one people, one body. There is power in agreement for where two or more are gathered together in God’s name there Christ is in the midst. This book of prayers offers a liturgical space and strategy for the local church to come together and make supplication to change the world. It is a book that provides guidance and assurance throughout the year, a resource for both laity and clergy and is a reminder that prayer is the treasure of the Christian life. I invite you to open your heart as you open this book and Heaven will open as you pray for God’s Kingdom to come into the world in every place great and small. Amen. Rev. Peter J. Treasured Memories Book Description :

In the autumn of 1944, around 70,000 people fled Estonia in the face of the Red Army advance. Most of them believed the Soviet occupation would be short-lived and they would soon be able to return home, so many of them hid the most valuable of their belongings they were unable to carry, burying them in 'safe' places. Until Stalin's death in 1953, Estonians continued to bury objects to hide them, now for fear of deportation to Siberia. In Hoarding memories, the archaeologist Mats Burström tells the stories of some of these hoards: the ones that remain buried, the ones that vanished, and the ones that were recovered and have found a place in new contexts. Their sheer variety brings together all levels of history, from personal memories to high politics, and reflects how events on the world stage can shape the fate of individual families, even across several generations. Yet most of all, as a groundbreaking work of contemporary archaeology, it is concerned with what objects mean to us, and our gift for remembering.

Treasured Possessions Book Description :

What happens when ritual practitioners from a small Pacific nation make an intellectual property claim to bungee jumping? When a German company successfully sues to defend its trademark of a Māori name? Or when UNESCO deems ephemeral sand drawings to be "intangible cultural heritage"? In Treasured Possessions, Haidy Geismar examines how global forms of cultural and intellectual property are being redefined by everyday people and policymakers in two markedly different Pacific nations. The New Hebrides, a small archipelago in Melanesia managed jointly by Britain and France until 1980, is now the independent nation-state of Vanuatu, with a population that is more than 95 percent indigenous. New Zealand, by contrast, is a settler state and former British colony that engages with its entangled Polynesian and British heritage through an ethos of "biculturalism" that is meant to involve an indigenous population of just 15 percent. Alternative notions of property, resources, and heritage—informed by distinct national histories—are emerging in both countries. These property claims are advanced in national and international settings, but they emanate from specific communities and cultural landscapes, and they are grounded in an awareness of ancestral power and inheritance. They reveal intellectual and cultural property to be not only legal constructs but also powerful ways of asserting indigenous identities and sovereignties.

Treasured Words Book Description :

One of the greatest blessings of my life was, along with my wife, being privileged to be part of a tour of Israel in 1982. The intense highlight was our being baptized in the Jordan River. The entire trip was indeed a life changing experience and inspired in me the desire to write. As a result, I wrote my first poem, O' Jerusalem. As I continued to write and store the results in my computer, one of my co-workers discovered my writings and shared them with others. The final result is this book of poetry and short stories. It is my desire that it will be a blessing to others and perhaps make a difference in the life of many.
